New installation: The Messy Middle

Step into the fair and be swept away by abstract artist Beth Shapeero’s vibrant new installation, The Messy Middle – a bold welcome created especially for our entrance.

In our increasingly complex world, Beth finds power in stripping away the unnecessary, distilling art to its most essential forms. Her practice celebrates the beautiful contradiction of controlled spontaneity: marks made quickly and loosely that emerge from years of rigorous training. What appears effortless actually requires deep mastery of colour, composition, and perfect timing.

“I’m hoping to create a real ‘wow’ impact when people walk in,” says Beth. “The scale and ambition will be striking.” – Beth Shapeero.

Spotlight on the next generation

“When asked to curate the Graduates Exhibition, I was determined to include as many graduating artists from as many different Universities as possible. Originally from Glasgow, my curatorial practice loves to highlight and champion the incredible work of artists found beyond the capital.” – Jo McLaughlin

This summer, curator, historian, and podcaster Jo McLaughlin has been busy travelling across the country to find some of the most promising young artists emerging onto the scene. This year’s Graduates Exhibition features an impressive 30 artists from 12 universities across the UK, and spans a huge variety of mediums – from blown glass and contemporary painting to textiles, ceramics, stained glass, photography and pastel drawings. Eight artists are even creating brand new works for the fair… Come and see what’s emerging – it’s your chance to invest in rising star artists.
